Online CBT Therapy
Since the beginning of 2020, the world has changed in a great many ways and therapy has needed to evolve to cope with those changes. At Journey Rooms we are happy to offer online CBT session during the pandemic and will continue to do so afterwards for your convenience. Below are some frequently asked questions.

Is online therapy as good as face to face therapy?

Honestly, no one is quite sure yet. CBT is all about studies and evidence so it is still early days . What we do know is that the people we have worked with on an online basis, have benefited greatly from the experience. Yes, it is different, but different doesn’t always mean bad. Sharing information is a lot easier and collaborating on documents through zoom is really useful, however not being in the same room as someone, does make it a little different but we have found many ways to adapt and ensure that your therapeutic session will be full of the benefits that you would expect from traditional cbt therapy.

Is online therapy safe?

Yes. At the beginning of therapy we carry out a full assessment and depending on your emotional and psychological state, we put in place safety plans and agree on what actions your therapist will take if they have concerns for your safety or wellbeing or the wellbeing and safety of others.

What is an online session like?

As with all CBT sessions, they follow a set structure. We introdice an agenda, cover important topics such as confidentiality and boundaries, then we use a series of tools to help you work on whatever it is that you want to bring to therapy. We then discuss how the session went and set some work for you to do in between the sessions.

What do I need to be able to do therapy online?

Ideally you need a laptop, Pc or tablet that is able to run zoom. Mobile phones can be used but this can cause difficulties especially when trying to collaborate on worksheets etc. You need a quiet place that you can speak without being overheard or without anyone walking in on you and you need a stable internet connection.  Headphones with a built in microphone would also be be beneficial.

How is the session organised?

We agree a weekly time slot, at a regular and appropriate time. On the morning of your session, you will be sent a text message asking you to confirm your attendance.
1 hour prior to the start of your session, you will be sent a zoom link via email. All you need to do is click on the link and your session will start .

How much are sessions and how do I pay?

Online therapy is charged at a competitive rate which matches our face to face therapy.

If an appointment is not cancelled with at least 24hrs notice, it  will incur a cancelation fee. There is no charge to reschedule an appointment. Missed appointments or appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at full price.

Extenuating circumstances will be taken into account for late cancelations or missed appointments.

Payment details will be sent with your starting paperwork. All sessions should be paid for by the start of each session.
