What drives you as a therapist?

“If there is anything that I could say to anyone that is considering getting in touch with me, it is this; I understand how difficult that it can be taking that first step and asking for help. We will work together, and I will take a gentle but direct and determined approach to helping you recognise your strengths and feel able to implement boundaries and be assertive.

I particularly want to help people who think they ‘should probably just get on with’ it but may not realise that they are worthy of a little extra help and support to show themselves the care and consideration that they give to others in their lives.

I feel immensely privileged to have the opportunity to support those who seek empowerment and freedom from their burdens and to witness their growth as they embark in the next chapter of their lives, stronger, more resilient, and better able to cope with the challenges that life may bring”.

What drives you as a therapist ?

I want others to know that there is no shame in not being able to be all things to all people, especially to ourselves. It is okay to struggle, it is okay to be overwhelmed but most importantly, it is okay to ask for and accept help and support. We get so caught up in the idea of normal that we feel we can’t show our true selves.

In my work with young people I’ve learned that you can know all the theory, have all the tools, but if you cant sit with and connect with someone then none of that matters. I love that moment when all the loose ends start to come together and things make sense.
You see that look in someone’s eyes and they realise they aren’t broken, they aren’t trapped and above all else, they aren’t alone.

That’s what drives me as a therapist. That singular moment, because once we get there, everything else just falls into place.
